Understanding Standings Abbreviations
For transparency and ease of access, below is the editorial key corresponding to all tables used within our World Cup 2026 Final Group Stage Desk:
P (Played): The total number of complete matches contested by the respective national squad in the group stage snapshot.
W (Wins): Matches won by the squad where they scored more goals than their opponents.
D (Draws): Matches that ended in an equal score line, yielding one point to each participant team.
L (Losses): Matches lost by the squad where they conceded more goals than they scored.
GF (Goals For): Total goals successfully scored by the national squad over all recorded matches.
GA (Goals Against): Total goals conceded by the national squad across all matches.
GD (Goal Difference): Subtraction sum of Goals Against from Goals For (GF - GA). Used as a primary tiebreaker.
PTS (Points): The mathematical tally determining positions. Computed as 3 points per win, 1 point per draw, and 0 points per loss.
